How to check if my cellphone is unlocked?
I have a TMobile Samsung Quadband phone, Was travelling to India so T mobile sent me an unlock code. I followed the procedure and it said lock deactivated…. My problem is that when I inserted the Indian sim card of my dad who is visiting from india, the phone just gives two messages “welcome to T mobile” and shows the make and model number. It does not allow any other acess on the phone. Do you think this phone is unlocked and will it work in India.
First off you should check whether the phone really is unlocked, by inserting a different provider’s sim or another foreign one. You should also however, and more importantly, check on how many bands your phone works on – this means that you’ll be able to tell in which parts of the world your phone works in: there’s a dual-band for Europe, a tri-band might even work in the states and anything higher will work just about anywhere!
